Sports Motivation

 

How well does your toned, great trained body work when under stress?  Do you run as fast when your muscles are tensed before a race?  Eustress is the good stress that we all need to get us motivated before a race BUT we have no need for the self imposed stress that affects our mind prior to competition.  Success is much more within your reach when you learn different mind and breathing techniques.  Success is your friend when you find your self limiiting beliefs.

One's mental state, in particular one's level of motivation, affects one's thoughts and feelings, and everything one does. I focus on providing individuals at all sporting levels with the mental skills and preparation needed to consistently succeed in sport and life. My working relationship with clients is based fundamentally on the premises that an understanding of each client's unique motivation for success is necessary. I will guide you to develop the motivation and energy needed to take control of your body, your health and your performance.

A Sports Motivator's role is multifaceted, comprising a combination of organisational, leadership and mentoring skills. The Motivator does not have to know more about the physical activity than the athlete. The Motivator assesses the athlete's physical and mental performance and offers advice through motivation and numerous other supportive techniques. I believe in finding the underlying, deep-seated reasons for the athlete's intentions and goals.

Sports motivation combines a complex mixture of personality, desires, dreams and realistic goals, to attain the highest performance results for the individual athlete in the most efficient and enjoyable manner. There are no limits to self-improvement!

Athletic success is as important as a balanced perspective on life!

The right motivation, plus a positive mental attitude and perception of self are paramount to success, as is the quality of the working relationship between the sports motivator and athlete.

The most positive and determined mental attitude without the same level of physical effort is as ineffective as the best physical training and effort without an accompanying high level of motivation and positive mental attitude. Therefore, BALANCE and integration of both are essential for the athlete who is serious about a professional future.

In addition, motivation during rehabilitation from physical injuries and/or psychological trauma, are all part and parcel of a Clinical Therapist/Motivator's facilitation program.

I find that developing motivation to an optimal level for an athlete to attain peak performance is a privilege and a pleasure.
